My name is Margaret Koons, I am member of the Independent hose Company in Jersey Shore PA.  I am also a owner/operator Leased to  Mercer Transportation.  Recently I had the honor of picking up parts of the World Trade Center along with 24 other fellow Mercer Drivers. We took parts of the building from Maryland where it was being tested, to a hanger at JFK International Airport in New York . When we left the testing facility in Maryland the people that were testing it came out of the building and waved good bye to the pieces as the left the site and to the drivers. For me that was a very moving experience for all the employees to come and wave flags and say good bye to the pieces. We had a police escort thru Maryland , Delaware, New Jersey and New York .  When we went thru Delaware there was Firefighters Standing on top of the Fire Trucks saluting us as we all went by.   Once we got into New York the Port Authority police were saluting us as we crossed the George Washington Bridge .  It was an honor to see them come out and show respect like that.  Once we arrived at the hanger we got to meet some of them.  After we were unloaded we had the rare opportunity to see some of the things that will be in the 9/11 museum. It was very emotional for me to see the fire trucks and the other things that were in there. I would like to take the opportunity to share some of my pictures from inside the hanger..  I would recommend that everyone take the time and go visit the museum once it opens.   If you would like to read more about how the other drivers felt here is a link to the blog for Mercer Transportation

Thank You
Margaret Koons
